The Indira Gandhi Jayanthi Women’s Arts & Science College is sponsored by the Indira Gandhi Jayanthi Memorial Educational, Cultural & Charitable Trust, established in Chennai in 1996. The college was founded in the year 1997 by Chevalier Sir Dr. K. C. Rajabather, M.A. (DMC), M.Ed., M.Phil., B.Com., PGDPA, D.Litt., O.A.S.G. (Austria), Ph.D., in honour of the former Prime Minister of India, Smt. Indira Gandhi, and Smt. Jayanthi, the beloved late wife of our founder.

Dr. K. C. Rajabather is also the Founder and Chairman of the Tagore Educational Society (est. 1974), which successfully manages numerous reputed educational institutions across Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Chennai, and Puducherry. For over five decades, he has devoted himself to education—not as a commercial pursuit, but as a mission rooted in service, women’s empowerment, and community upliftment.

Our college is situated on a 16-acre lush green and peaceful campus in Kilgudalur, the hometown of our founder. It stands as the fulfilment of his dream: to provide accessible, high-quality higher education for women, ensuring that
